Founded in 2009, Country Road Networks was created to provide residential Internet to underserved or unserved regions of New England. In the mid 2000s, the founders of Country Road were asked by the State of Massachusetts (Mass Technology Collaborative) to research the cost of serving the 31 unserved towns in Western, MA. We were then asked to install and operate a pilot project to provide WiFi Internet to the center of the towns of Florida, Worthington and New Salem. At the conclusion of that pilot, the townspeople and the State asked that we continue to grow and operate portions of those networks.
In 2011 we received a $50,000 grant from the Mass Broadband Institute to expand the network in the Savoy, Hawley and Charlemont region.
In the same year, Country Road purchased the assets of WiBlast Communications in Nantucket, MA. Since then we have been actively upgrading the network and expanding our service across the island.
